Depression. A big open field, in the middle of the night. No moon, no stars, just clouds and darkness. The air is cold and the breeze is soft, the long grass almost riding the wind. In the distance, sitting on the horizon is a long line made of lights. Each light, huddled closely to each other. These lights are your friends and family. All enjoying life, happily submerged in each other's company.

The lights are the center of attention. The part of the image that people first look at. Then they look closer. Closer and closer until a small street lamp is visible. Far from the others sits a lone lamp, sitting above a tree. Under the tree is a person. It is unknown whether this person is female or male, good or bad, existent or non-existent. Most of the lights on the horizon don't even care about this secluded person. This troubled, young person.

The lamp above the tree is dim, it gets dimmer every second, dimmer every time the person starts thinking negative. Negative of themselves or others... Or even life itself. The light from the lamp barely passes through the leaves of the tree, only small rays of light are able to pass through.

The person is deeply upset. All this person wants is to be free of the horrible upsetting emotions. The pain and suffering trapped in their mind. The person wants help, they need it. But no body knows. Either that or no body cares. All this person needs to do is walk, into the darkness. Through it, towards the horizon till they reach the help they desperately want and need. This is the best option, the other...

The person holds a necklace, attached to a string, hooked to the tree branch. This person suffers every day... This person thinks this is the only way out. The necklace wrapped around the person's neck, tightens and tightens. Lifting the person from the grass, up into the air. The wind blows the leaves, the light goes out. And there hangs the person in a necklace made of rope.

i still remember reading this and lately i have just had so much going on that i just think of this now cuz i have some people say they are my friends but when i need some most of them are like gone i can't get a hold of them or anything and things just get worse and worse for me now i just don't know what to do now i told the ones stressing me out and all about how i feel and they do nothing just keep doing the same thing making it worse and when i'm close to having one thing i have been waiting for that would make me happy it gets taken away

Hang in there, This won't last forever.

It's a sad but really well written story. I don't think it'd be much of a stretch to say that Mince here is one of the most creative members of this forum.
