Seriously how do you draw him that well? I've tried and tried and tried and I'm normally pretty good with drawing people but not Sinu for some reason.

Aah! Fantastic choice in career there! The great thing about graphic design is that there will always be a need for it. Be it a company logo or a poster for a local event. And it doesn't have to be fancy so long as it's recognizeable and sends a message across. The marriage equality pink equals sign on the red backdrop was a good example of that. You immediately know what means when you see it.

I feel that understanding the psychology behind colors is probably the most important thing to know in the graphic design field (along with the obvious elements and principles of design). The image can be at any level of simplicity, and not really make much of an impact as it gets more complex, but different colors make people feel completely different about the same image.

For instance, the McDonald's logo is just two yellow curves on a red base. And the colors are bright and not only do you recognize it instantly because of their intensity, but also studies show warm colors make you feel hungrier. Aha!!! During political debates, the man with the red tie is usually the one who's considered to be the more aggressive while the one in the blue tie is usually considered the calm and collected one.

Even Sinu's picture, the reason the backdrop was yellow was because it needed a contrast to his tux, but in a way that would still make the image look complete and unified. Otherwise, it'd hurt your eyes to look at it. Being kind of a funny picture, you want a brighter color that feels more upbeat and lighthearted. Infidox's picture with the blue backdrop conveys a more cool, slick kind of look then a. A darker ring in the backdrop around Sinu was added to subtly draw your attention in towards him. The text was red to stand out and make it seem more bold. You almost read it in a rougher voice that yells "Duck Under!"

tl;dr:
Keep colors within a certain pallet and know how they work. Because they're way more powerful than you think.

And Tortoiseshel, I don't know. I certainly had some trouble in parts. I sort of started with the hair and eyebrows before tackling the shape of his face. I had a hard time differentiating the neck from the rest of his head. What's been giving you trouble?

Wow, I didn't know you had to put so much thought into it. But I get what you mean about the logos, their simple two colors and shape definitely make them more recognizable. Thanks for the advice! :3 Maybe one day I'll make a Sinuyan pic that's anywhere as good as yours.
